Antony Chapman

Humanism and Atheism

Antony Chapman will introduce a discussion on the relationship between Humanism and Atheism.   As he sees it, Humanism is a code of ethics while Atheism is a non-belief in a god or gods, and there is no automatic connection between the two.   But not all Humanists agree with this.   Are all Atheists Humanists?   Are all Humanists Atheists?  What about hedonists, nihilists, communists, not to mention stoics, animists and others?  Where do agnostics, deists and theists fit in?   Bring along your ideas.

Antony Chapman was a co-founder of Chiltern Humanists, and is currently vice-chairman.   He was for many years involved in the national Humanist movement, in particular with the publishers of New Humanist magazine.

Everybody welcome. Bring your friends.
