College Report Confirms Successful Year

Aylesbury College’s recently published annual report titled ‘The Facts Speak for Themselves’, confirms that 94% of the College’s 2,899 students achieved the qualifications they signed up for, a 4% rise on the previous year. 96% of students say the College has met their expectations.

Karen Mitchell, Principal and Chief Executive of Aylesbury College, explains: “The student achievement rate rise to 94%, shows a strong three-year trend of improvement and puts the college in the top tier of colleges nationally. These results are testament to the effort and commitment of our students and staff and we are very proud that so many young people have achieved their qualifications and progressed onto higher level courses at college or university, into apprenticeships or into employment.”

Other highlights in the report include:

  • An 88% success rate in the 332 students who receive additional learning support
  • 87% of teaching is either good or outstanding
  • Long course success at 86%, is 2% above the national benchmark
  • Functional skills in English are 11% above the national average
  • The link with the College and 616 employers

The College, which received a ‘Good’ OFSTED report in May 2013, currently has 945 students on work-based courses, with a further 826 in apprenticeships and 119 on work place training. The college had an income of £13million, mostly made up through government grants, and is investing in infrastructure and technology for all departments.
