Wendover Juniors Cricket Report – Summer 2014

As the end of the junior cricket season approaches, the juniors section of the Wendover Cricket Club celebrated with their annual presentation day on Saturday 12th June. It was a chance for each of the age groups to come together and share their experiences over the past few months.

The morning began with the younger players taking part in a team event involving a number of cricket related activities. The winning team not only gained the accolade of winners, but also got a box of chocolates each, yum! During this time parents were able to enjoy the sunshine with a nice cup of tea and a chat with friends.

Following on from the games and as the BBQ cooked, the presentation began with kind words from the club’s vice-chairman Nick Morley. The club likes to acknowledge the participation of all of our junior members, and every child received a medal for their involvement this season including our youngest members in the U7s, after all, they are the future of the club!

All other age groups play competitive cricket and therefore a number of different awards in acknowledgement of consistent performance throughout the season were presented. Each of the age group managers highlighted the teams overall performance and then announced individual winners who received their award from the club’s vice-chairman. The winners of the awards were:

Well-done everyone!

All teams played well this season and resulted in finals for 3 of them. Final results will be published in next month’s addition.

The club would also like to thank all of the volunteers and parents, there are too many to name individually. The club is only as successful as it is because of the time that you all give to it, whether that is managing a team, helping with teas or just supporting the players when they train and play matches. A big thank you to everyone involved and I look forward to seeing you all next season!
