In a 67,000 word detailed response to the statement, the Society says the current plan to route HS2 across the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty contravenes the Countryside and Rights of Way Act and pays hardly any regard to the fact that the AONB is a nationally protected landscape.

Chesham and Amersham MP Cheryl Gillan met Matt Jackson, Head of Conservation and Strategy at BBOWT on Friday 28 June to see at first-hand the woodlands that will be damaged by the HS2 proposals in her constituency.
The Wendover Stop HS2 meeting this morning attracted undaunted campaigners and key local politicians including our MP David Lidington, neighbouring MP Cheryl Gillan, our County Councillor Chris Adams and District Councillor Chris Richards.
