Simply Walk
Weekly walks on Tuesdays from Wendover Clock Tower, leaving 10am. If you are a first-time walker, please arrive at least 15 minutes early and register with the walk leader. After the walk, there’s an opportunity to socialise at the weekly all-ages drop-in at Wendover Christian Centre.

Our key aim is simply to provide free gentle guided walks to help people return to, or maintain, their fitness and offset the negative effects of sedentary lifestyles.

We currently provide 2 types of walk, each one accompanied by a qualified Leader and Backmarker:

  • Level 1: This is ideal for beginners, or those who are ‘less able’ or who need to undertake gentle exercise as part of their recovery from an illness or injury.  They typically last from 30mins to 1 hour.
  • Level 3: This is ideal for people with some experience of walking and are looking to maintain their fitness, or are maybe thinking of attempting a walk with the Chiltern Society or Ramblers Association.  They typically last from 1 – 1½ hours.

‘Simply Walk’ is a voluntary scheme sponsored by Bucks Council as part of the National ‘Walking for Health’ initiative and there are currently some 70 walks per week operating across the County.  For more background info, please refer to the Bucks Council article ‘Put your best foot forward with Simply Walk’, dated 22nd April 2021 in the ‘Health & Social Care, Physical Activities’ section of this website.

We would like more potential Walk Leaders to join us so that we can resume walks on a weekly basis.  Candidates should preferably have some experience of walking and like working with people.  All Training is provided free of charge by Bucks Council and those interested should contact Fiona Broadbent at or call 01494 475367.  Alternatively, if they would like to get a better idea of what’s involved, they can simply come along and join us on any of our scheduled walks.
