Lionel Abel Smith Trust
The trust was created in December 1977 by the Lord of the Manor of Wendover, Lionel Abel-Smith, to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. With great generosity, Mr Abel-Smith gave cottages and a substantial cash endowment to found the Trust. He said then that he wished to create something for the benefit of Wendover and its inhabitants. His family had been the principal landowners in Wendover from the 1790s.
The 41st meeting of the Lionel Abel-Smith Trust took place on Wednesday 3 April 2019 in St Anne’s Hall. It was led by Dr Gwen Williams, a Trustee for the last 21 years. She takes over from Marion Clayton. Tony Mogford was the first chair. They both continue as Trustees. The clerk, Angela German, can always be contacted: firstname.lastname@example.org.
