WELCOME TO 1ST WENDOVER SCOUTS

We are a Scout group based in Bucks – providing scouting for over 200 young people aged 6 to 18. We offer a varied programmed covering many areas including creativity, craft, climbing, water activities, camping and walking. All with the aim of helping our young people develop and achieve their full potential as individuals and as a member of our community.

Wish to Join 1st Wendover Scout Group

1st Wendover Scout Group is a mixed group open to young people between the ages of 6 and 18 years. Based in Wendover, Buckinghamshire – in the foothills of the Chilterns, it has its own scout headquarters, offering a wide variety of activities including craft, games, shooting, archery, mountaineering and sailing to name but a few!

The catchment area of the Group covers Wendover and children attending Wendover schools.

If your child would be interested in joining us, then please email us.

PLEASE NOTE CHILDREN ARE ONLY ACCEPTED ONTO THE WAITING LIST FROM THEIR 4TH BIRTHDAY.
ALSO AT PRESENT WE ARE UNABLE TO TAKE NAMES AFTER THE AGE OF 7 AS WE ARE VERY OVER-SUBSCRIBED.

Wendover Scout Group is a voluntary Scout Group, run entirely by adult volunteers. We are always interested in recruiting new adult volunteers to help make our group even more successful – If you think this sounds like your cup of tea, again contact us via the e-mail at the address below.

1st Wendover Scout Group – CAN YOU HELP

As you already know with children in the group, how much young people get out of scouting with lots of fantastic chances to experience new activities.

Whilst our current leader teams are reasonably well resourced, the sections themselves are running pretty much at full capacity with the young people.

We have many young people on our waiting list, way more than we could ever offer places to. Therefore we are proposing to start a new Beaver Colony in the new year, taking a small number (12) off the waiting list and then building the numbers over the next 18 months, when we would then hopefully open another cub pack.

The 2 Beaver colonies already run parallel programs and are happy to share this experience with the new leader team. Scouting also offers a training program for leaders giving the full range of training needed to run or help with a section.

In our experience, it only takes one person to agree to run the section. This then naturally brings in the additional helpers needed to make up the leader team.

Scouting is very great fun for all involved, young people or adult helpers. Enthusiasm is more important than experience. We have a great team of leaders who are more than willing to support new leaders as they, like you, volunteered at some stage.
