100th Employer Offering Apprenticeship is Signed Up
Aylesbury College has signed an agreement with Impact Sign Solutions Ltd, based in the Rabans Lane Industrial Area, who has become the College’s 100th employer to gain the Apprenticeship grant from the government following the employment of an apprentice. The company is advertising the opportunity for a Digital Marketing Apprentice through the Government’s National Apprentice website.
Andy Borrow, Managing Director, from Impact Sign Solutions said: “Apprenticeships seem to be one of the rare ‘win-win’ situations in the current business climate. The apprentice gets paid to learn with a real job at the end of it, the employer gets a resource and a fresh outlook that they may not have otherwise been able to afford. The better the relationship between the apprentice and employer, the better the prospects for them both.”
Aylesbury College has been delivering apprenticeships for almost 30 years for 16-24 year olds and 25 year plus students. The scheme allows them the opportunity to gain a qualification whilst in full time employment. They attend college for one day a week to undertake study for their Technical Certificate and for the rest of the week work and train with their employer. They are supported in the workplace by a college Training Assessor who undertakes regular review meetings with the employer and the student to ensure progress towards completion of the NVQ section of the framework and also assess evidence relating to the NVQ.
Tim Keighley, Executive Director of Engagement & Business Development at Aylesbury College adds: “Apprenticeships combine a framework of qualifications which enable the apprentice to become a fully qualified employee. This scheme is so important in giving our young people an opportunity to enter the world of work. It’s great to be working with so many good employers in the area and we’re delighted to celebrate this milestone”.
Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg MP said recently: “Apprenticeships are at the heart of our drive for a stronger economy, equipping people of all ages with the skills employers need to prosper and compete, often in a global market. They give hard-working young people the chance to aim high for their dream job.”
Other employers working with Aylesbury College include; Gatsby & Miller, Urban Media, El Harvey & Sons, Dinton Pre-School & Princes Risborough Golf Club.
