24-hour traffic lights restriction lifted on A418

Work progresses on constructing the junction for the Eastern Link Road at Bierton

Temporary traffic lights, which have been in place on the A418 Aylesbury Road at Bierton 24 hours a day for the past three weeks, will revert to off-peak hours only from Monday (9 March).

They were needed while work progressed on the junction for the northern section of the Eastern Link Road, being constructed by Barratt & David Wilson Homes as part of the new Kingsbrook housing development.

Mark Shaw, Buckinghamshire County Council Deputy Leader and Transport Cabinet Member said: “Very reluctantly, we agreed to the request from Barratt’s contractors for 24-hour temporary lights, and I’m very pleased there’s no longer a need for them.”

A Barratt & David Wilson Homes spokesman said: “We would like to thank everyone for their patience and apologise for the inconvenience caused.”

The developer confirmed temporary traffic signals would continue to be in place only between 9.30am and 3.30pm until the end of March, while the final construction phase of the new link road junction is completed.
