80 days to go until Buckinghamshire & Milton Keynes’ greatest show!
It’s just 80 days until Buckinghamshire & Milton Keynes Armed Forces Day and tickets are now available for the popular event.
Guests gathered at Wycombe Town Hall on Thursday afternoon (11 April) to witness the official ticket launch for the occasion which will take place at Wycombe Air Park on Saturday 29 June from midday.
Armed Forces Day is a national event held every year as a way of saying thank you to our armed forces, including cadets, veterans, reservists and current serving personnel. This year it will be held at a new venue at Wycombe Air Park but will feature the same fun, family-orientated entertainment and attractions as always including air displays, live music, fairground rides, craft stalls and much more.
While the event is aimed at currently serving troops to service families, veterans and cadets, it is also open to the general public and this year, for the first time, the event will be completely free to attend although attendees still have to book their free tickets online.
Sir Henry Aubrey-Fletcher, the Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire officially opened ticket ‘sales’ at the launch event which was attended by members of the local armed forces community, sponsors and other civic dignitaries. Four guests were over the age of 90, one being a 95 year old ex Halifax rear gunner, another was a 94 year old veteran of D Day, the third was a 93 year old an ex Wren who marched in the official victory parade in 1945 and the 4th was a 92 year old an ex 1st Btn 43/52 Light infantry veteran.
Speaking at the event Sir Henry said: “I’m excited to announce that tickets are now available for this year’s Buckinghamshire & Milton Keynes Armed Forces Day. We have a fantastic day of entertainment lined up for everyone to enjoy. We are especially pleased this year that due to us being able to seek enough sponsorship, we are able to offer free entry to everyone. I sincerely thank all our sponsors.”
Bill Bendyshe-Brown, Buckinghamshire County Council’s Armed Forces Champion, added: “Armed Forces Day is the perfect opportunity to say thank you to the men and women of our armed forces, past, present and future, for all that they do.
“I also want to thank the Royal British Legion for their joint assistance in helping to lay on this occasion. Further, and most importantly, I want to thank Wycombe Air Park for allowing us to use their airfield for free. I want to urge everyone to come along and enjoy a fabulous day out and whilst at the same time, show their support and appreciation for the fantastic work carried out by all our armed forces.”
