One of HS2’s main works contractors, EKFB, a joint venture between Eiffage, Kier, Ferrovial Construction and BAM Nuttall, has donated thousands of pounds and hundreds of toys to a plethora of Bucks-based charities for Christmas.

On Wednesday, team members from EKFB and its supply chain, visited Stoke Mandeville Hospital’s Children Ward and a women’s refuge in Aylesbury to drop off the 300 gifts collected by the workforce.

Using an estimated 150 metres of wrapping paper, the teams came together to wrap the presents before delivering a mountain of toys requiring the use of three cars and 12 people.

As part of its charity appeal this year, the teams’ donations have reached the Nutkin WardTrussell Trust, MIND, PACE and the Winter Night Shelter in Milton Keynes.

Lydia Williams, EKFB’s Engagement Advisor for the North Chilterns Area said:

“This was all about giving back to the communities that we work in everyday and no matter how many times we organise these kinds of collections, I am always overwhelmed by the generosity of our site and office teams. It was an incredible collaborative effort from our teams in the North Chilterns, Aylesbury, Calvert and subcontractor teams to deliver such a special donation and we really hope this will bring some festive cheer to the parents and children who will certainly need it this Christmas. We wish them all a very merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year.”
