Another Sally is arriving at St Mary’s!
On Saturday June 29th at Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford Sally Prendergast will be ordained as a deacon in the Church of England and will come to work at St Mary’s, Wendover and St Michael’s, Halton. She will be a self-supporting part-time curate which basically means Sally is ‘training on the job’ and is supporting herself financially.
Sally writes:
“I’m delighted that I’ll be serving my curacy at Wendover and Halton, starting this summer. As I live nearby (in Great Kimble), I’ve grown to know and love Wendover and Halton. Places reflect the communities who have created them, so I’m really looking forward to meeting all who live and work here, and I’ll be praying for you in the coming months.
“Previously, I’ve worked as a calligrapher, teacher, local radio presenter, Probation Officer, and copy editor. As a self-supporting Curate I’ll continue to design and make clergy stoles – the most unusual occupation of them all!
“I’m married to Patrick, who is passionate about gardening and golf. Our four adult children are scattered across the UK, so we share our home with Harry the English Setter, Sullivan the cat, and Mel and Sue the chickens, guaranteeing a house full of mud and laughter…”
We are very much looking forward to her arrival…there will be a service at 10am on Sunday 30th June at St Mary’s to welcome Sally, followed by a barbecue lunch.
