Apply for a mature driver assessment with DriveOn magazine
DriveOn, a magazine full of useful advice for mature drivers, is now available free of charge from Buckinghamshire libraries.
Many mature drivers have years of experience behind them, making them some of the safest drivers on the road – but age can also bring health problems that can make driving more difficult than it used to be.
DriveOn magazine contains advice on choosing the right car, getting the best deal on your insurance, and information about Motability vehicles and health issues that may affect your driving.
It also comes with an application form for Transport for Buckinghamshire’s mature driver assessments, which can help drivers to:
- Refresh their driving skills
- Maintain independence
- Regain confidence
- Continue driving safely for as long as possible.
The assessments last for about an hour and take place in your own car, on roads familiar to you. They can be a great way to get friendly reassurance and advice.
County Council Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Transport Mark Shaw, said:
“Driving is a crucial way for a lot of people to remain independent and continue living life to the full. There’s no shame in wanting to reinforce your confidence levels as a mature driver or wanting to refresh your skills. Get along to your local library for your free magazine and sign yourself up to one of our assessments!”
