Apprentices shine bright at celebration event
They may just besetting out on their journeys into the world of work but already these Buckinghamshire County Council apprentices are shining bright and yesterday their efforts and achievements were recognised in a celebration event at County Hall.
The group of young men and women work across all sections of the county council gaining skills and experience to set them up for their future careers as they take part in the council-run New Talent Apprenticeship Programme.
The celebration event is an opportunity to recognise the achievements of the young people over the past 12 months in a fun and relaxed way. This year’s awards went to:
- Leading Light Award (most likely to be Chief Executive in the future) – Sophia Brannan
- Miss or Mister Punctuality Award (always on time for things) – Molly Budd
- The Caffeine Award (for endless energy and enthusiasm) – Chloe Nicholas
- The Sticker Award (for never giving up) – Hannah Cracroft
- Santa’s Little Helper Award (always willing to help out) – Marish Rangzeb
- The Inventor Award (for creative thinking/new ideas) – Louis Dowling
For the first time this year the apprentices were also able to nominate their managers for a Good Practice Award. Award certificates were handed out by Chairman Patricia Birchley and Chief Executive Rachael Shimmin.
Speaking after the event Tricia said: “We are truly blessed to have such a talented and dynamic group of apprentices working with us across the council. Their energy and enthusiasm for the job is a joy to see and we are delighted to be able to play our part in helping them to gain new skills and experience to set them off on their careers.”
Rachael added: “Everyone is a winner with an apprenticeship scheme which is why we have expanded ours over recent years. As an organisation we benefit greatly from this pool of new talent and the apprentices gain invaluable experience in the world of work.
“Many of our former apprentices find permanent jobs within the council and others go on to forge successful careers elsewhere. We would strongly encourage other employers in the area who don’t yet have an apprenticeship scheme to find out more and see what you can gain.”
