AVDC cabinet heads to Wendover

Aylesbury Vale District Council cabinet members will be hitting the road as they hold their next meeting in Wendover on 14 July.

The cabinet usually sits at the AVDC Gateway offices in Aylesbury and meetings are open to the public, but they will, from time to time, hold meetings in different locations around the district. The meetings are where key decisions are made following discussion between all elected members.

Holding the cabinet meeting in Wendover will make it easier for residents in the south of the district to go along and experience the cabinet meeting process, and members of the public are encouraged to attend.

The meeting on 14 July will take place at the John Colet School, Wharf Road, starting at 6.15pm. It will be preceded by a half hour session, starting at 5.45pm, during which residents can talk to the council’s seven cabinet members and ask any burning questions they have on their minds.

Councillor Neil Blake, Leader of the Council, said: “Running a large organisation like the district council isn’t a simple task. We are human and can get things wrong, which is why visits like this are vital in making sure we understand the issues faced by the communities we serve.

“I’d like to encourage as many people as possible to join us on 14 July at the John Colet School in Wendover – come along to meet the cabinet members and discover what they can do for you and your community.”

The cabinet agenda will be available to download from the AVDC website www.aylesburyvaledc.gov.uk from 3 July. Items for discussion include the future provider of legal services to the council and a proposal to form a new charitable trust that will take responsibility for collating, maintaining and preserving the heritage of the Paralympic movement.
