Aylesbury College students build a tractor – out of wood!
Carpentry students at Aylesbury College have been busy working on a project at the Green Dragon Eco Farm in a successful collaboration between the two organisations.
The students from the Carpentry Course, with Tutor Kevin Barnett, worked on the 12ft by 8ft structure in College before assembling it on site. Individual parts were made by different student groups and then it took 8 hours to assemble the whole project together.
The College also worked with Green Dragon Eco Farm last year prior to the opening of the Eco Centre in October 2014.
Owner Ray Marzec says: “We’re always delighted to collaborate with Aylesbury College, and provide work experience for their students. Tutors Kevin and Mike and the lads from the Construction Department have really done us proud – just in time for our ‘Farmer Christmas’ attraction.”
Kevin Barnet, Carpentry Tutor at Aylesbury College, commented: “This was a very enjoyable and worthwhile project for the students. They got some valuable work experience on a real live employer brief. They had to work well as a team to successfully complete the project.”
The finished tractor will be part of Green Dragon Eco Farm’s Farmer Christmas attraction, which opens on 5 December – http://greendragonecofarm.co.uk/.
