Aylesbury College celebrates student success with awards evening
The Aylesbury College annual ‘Celebrating Achievement Awards’ event for students at was held on 1st July at the College. 24 awards were presented to students representing each College curriculum area, recognising outstanding student success in the 2014/15 academic year for all round achievement, teamwork and accomplishment in the face of adversity.
Cassie Mays won the overall Student of the Year award. She was selected by the College governors who were impressed with her standard of work and her dedication to succeed in her chosen career path. Cassie was the only student on her course to have 100% attendance, and her tutor praised the high quality of her work.
Cassie said: “I feel very privileged to have won two awards this evening – one for Sport and Public Services and also the overall Student of the Year award. I have loved my time at Aylesbury College and would like to thank all of my tutors who have supported me throughout my time here especially Shaz Plester. The awards evening was really special and emotional for me but it made for a fantastic end to the year.”
This year the awards were presented by former Aylesbury College student president Chris Larkin, who now works at The Behavioural Insights Team. He said: “It was a real honour to meet all these inspiring young people. I was delighted to be invited back to Aylesbury College to present these awards. Well done to all the winners!”
