To mark a very unusual year since the Covid-19 pandemic hit, leading developer Barratt and David Wilson Homes is marking the events of 2020 with a time capsule for future residents in Aylesbury.

The housebuilder, who is building a range of properties at its Kingsbrook development, enlisted the help of pupils from Broughton Community Infant School to bury a piece of the past at the new community.

Children at the school included a collection of booklets which represented their life during lockdown and over the past year of the pandemic. This involved them writing letters to the finders of the time capsule, as well as asking them to interview their family members on how the pandemic affected them.

Other items buried included a local newspaper with the date on it, a house brochure, as well as donations made by Greg Smith, MP for Buckingham and Councillor Mike Smith, Mayor of Aylesbury.

Karly Williams, Sales Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Thames, said: “We enlisted the help of pupils from Broughton Community Infant School to preserve the past of Aylesbury and the past year of the pandemic in the form of a time capsule burial.

“It will be interesting for those that open the time capsule in 50 years’ time to see not only how modern-day items have changed, but how Aylesbury and Kingsbrook have changed over the years.”

Kingsbrook is comprised of multiple neighbourhoods set between three vast open parks and nestled deep into the Buckinghamshire countryside. Residents can benefit from open space for sports and playing, as well as countryside walks to observe the rich biodiversity of the neighbouring wetlands and wetland centre.
