Aylesbury Santa Dash raises over £5,000 for local hospice charity
Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity’s Aylesbury Santa Dash added a splash of colour to the town centre this weekend as Dashers took to the streets in festive outfits on Sunday morning.
Dashers of all ages from children to grandparents, on foot, on scooters and in pushchairs took on the 2.5k and 5k routes around the town to kickstart the season of goodwill, raising over £5,000 for local hospice care, with donations still coming in.
The whole community got involved, with George David Estate Agents sponsoring the event, the children of Bedgrove Junior School choir singing Christmas songs and Monika Yarnell of Jonika Fitness making sure the Dashers were safely warmed up and ready for the Dash. The 5k Dash was started by The Mayor of Aylesbury, who also took part in the run himself. Nathan Cooper of Bucks Radio was there to start the 2.5k Dash for some of the younger Dashers.
“It was great to be back with our first live event since the pandemic and to see so many people out to support us,” said the Charity’s Head of Fundraising, Lee Lloyd. “Their efforts will help us fund care for our patients and their families, at the Hospice itself and out in the community, in patients’ homes across Buckinghamshire this Christmas, and every day.”
