Aylesbury Waterside Theatre announce charities they will be supporting during the Christmas 2024 Panto
Aylesbury Waterside Theatre are proud to announce the charities they will be supporting this festive season during the run of The Further Adventures of Peter Pan: The Return of Captain Hook from Fri 6 Dec 2024 – Sun 5 Jan 2025.
The venue’s Charity Committee received over 40 applications to be Charity Partners for the pantomime this year and were humbled by the great deal of work being done locally to support the community.
The two charities that post-show bucket collections will be supporting are Aylesbury Foodbank and Autism Early Support Trust (AES).
Heather-Joy Garrett, Operations Manager, Aylesbury Foodbank said: ‘The support given will help us greatly as although we never turn anyone in need away, we are increasingly faced with having to buy the food we need as donations are not increasing at the same rate of needs.‘
Autism Early Support Trust Limited (AES) delivers early support and specialist education to autistic children and children with sensory, communication and interaction differences. They also provide a comprehensive programme of support for parents and annually support over 500 families from across Buckinghamshire and the surrounding communities.
Sarah Sweet-Rowley, Chief Executive said: “We can’t wait to join the fun of the Panto season! Opportunities like this are vital for our charity – for raising funds and awareness of the need for early help and specialist education for autistic children and their families.”
The theatre’s Magic Ticket scheme enables customers to add an additional ticket to their order at a discounted rate of £10 to treat a child less fortunate to see the pantomime. Local businesses are also welcome to purchase tickets too, with the final allocation being distributed between Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity, Young Carers Bucks, Absolutely Together, Sparkles Supporting Children with Down Syndrome, Social Link and Nest Aylesbury Vale.
Booster seat donations this year will support BURPS – Baby Unit, Relative and Parents Support Charity, who are dedicated to making a difference for families on the Stoke Mandeville Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
The venue team feels proud to be able to support these hugely deserving charities with the help of this year’s generous pantogoers, who last year raised £16,301.15 from bucket collections for Florence Nightingale Hospice and Youth Concern and funded over 300 Magic Tickets.
