Barratt Homes welcomes new Buckinghamshire Apprentice

Barratt Homes Northampton is continuing its work to support local employment by taking on an apprentice at its Brooklands site to help him develop his skills.

Miles Ford, from Milton Keynes, has recently started his apprenticeship with Barratt Homes meaning his is working between Stephenson College, completing his Carpentry and Joinery Level 2 NVQ, and, the Barratt Homes development.

He said: “I applied to work for Barratt Homes because I’ve always seen the houses that they build and the finish of the homes is top quality. I wanted to be the best tradesperson I could be and I knew that Barratt Homes could get me there.”

Having an apprenticeship with Barratt Homes means that individuals start earning right away, combining hands on work with professional training apprentices learn the skills that are essential for success and earn qualifications that are useful for the rest of their career.

Miles continued: “At the moment, what I’m enjoying most is simply fitting the architraves and skirting, I really enjoy measuring and cutting them down to size, it’s quite satisfying when everything fits correctly.

“I’m looking forward to learning more about site and really being able to hone my trade.

“Once I’ve completed my apprenticeship, I’ll look to continue onto a Level 3 NVQ and even potentially getting into site management once I’ve learnt my trade in its entirety.”
