Beaconsfield & Chepping Wye Community Board focuses on year ahead

Beaconsfield & Chepping Wye Community Board is calling on local people to get involved in helping them to make improvements to the local area.

At the board’s recent meeting, members reflected back on some of the positive impacts already made and looked forward to ambitions for the coming year.

Like all Buckinghamshire’s Community Boards, Beaconsfield & Chepping Wye has worked with partners and local groups and organisations in its first 12 months, to make a difference in the local community. Highlights include:

  • Supporting local groups such as the One Can Trust and Chiltern Dial-a-Ride with their response to the pandemic
  • Joining in partnership with local groups and organisations to make improvements including installing accessible nest swings with Penn Parish Council, introducing a new community garden with Beaconsfield Town Council and working with Chiltern Rangers on a series of wildlife and environmental initiatives with local schools.
  • Joining with several other community boards and Buckinghamshire Business First to instigate the Be Your Own Boss initiative to support local business entrepreneurs.
  • Providing funding to Hazlemere Scouts to help with their hut refurbishment
  • Working with Chepping Wycombe Parish Council to develop a new dementia friendly community project.

For the coming year the board plans to build on the successes of last year by supporting more local initiatives and community projects. Three action groups have been set up:

  • Supporting Economic Recovery
  • Improving the Environment
  • Highways & Traffic

Chairman, Jonathan Waters said: “We will continue to work with local groups, charities and individuals to develop and initiate new projects to address local needs and concerns. We are calling out for anyone with ideas, enthusiasm or experience to get in touch and to get involved in helping make a real difference in our local community.”
