Big Draw aims to draw the crowds in to Eden

The ‘world’s biggest drawing festival’ is coming to the Eden Shopping Centre in High Wycombe during half term – and organisers hope it will draw in the crowds.

The aim of the free ‘Big Draw’ event on Wednesday October 28 is to encourage adults and children of all abilities to enter a drawing competition where prizes will be supplied by stores in the shopping centre.

The contest in Wycombe, promoted by Buckinghamshire Adult Learning, is part of an international initiative run by the Campaign for Drawing charity. More than 1000 organisations across 26 countries take part each year. This year’s theme is ‘Every drawing has a story to tell’.

Zahir Mohammed, Buckinghamshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, urged the public to join in the festival.

He said: “This event has been set up to show that drawing is a key life skill for thinking and communicating. I hope that people of all ages and all abilities come to the Eden Shopping Centre to take part. It doesn’t matter how good you are – just come along and have fun.”

· The Big Draw is at the Eden Shopping Centre on Wednesday 28 October, 10am – 4pm, just outside Starbucks. The FREE event is suitable for adults and children, but those aged 6-16 must be accompanied by an adult. Materials will be provided.
