Bletchley Park wins Visitor Attraction Award

Bletchley Park has been named as Large Visitor Attraction of the Year in The Beautiful South Awards For Excellence.

The awards, which were run by Tourism South East and Services For Tourism, celebrate the best attractions and experiences for tourists. Bletchley Park, home of Britain’s World War Two Codebreakers, beat such attractions as Blenheim Palace and the Mary Rose to the top spot.

The award, which was announced at the Beautiful South Awards ceremony in Brighton last night (Wednesday 2 December), recognises the £8 million restoration of the historical buildings and the innovative exhibitions that have been installed over the last two years.

With interest in Bletchley Park snowballing since the release of The Imitation Game last year, the museum has already had more than 275,000 visitors in 2015. Visitors can immerse themselves in the Codebreakers’ world with the help of the set dressed original huts, soundscapes and interactive displays.

Iain Standen, CEO of the Bletchley Park Trust, said, “It is wonderful to see the transformation of this unique heritage site recognised again, with yet another prestigious accolade. This is further proof, if it were needed, that Bletchley Park is a must-do day out.”

Bletchley Park has received several accolades this year including the Best Attraction for Groups in the Group Travel Awards and both the Leisure and Entertainment Award and the Business of the Year Award in the Milton Keynes Business Achievement Awards. The heritage attraction has also been given a Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence.
