Bonfires in Wendover

Is it really necessary to light a bonfire?  We have a very efficient team who regularly collect our household waste, and another team to collect garden rubbish.  What else can anyone possibly need to burn?  Those of us on the receiving end have to endure the smoke, smell and bits of burnt ash blowing around, making it most unpleasant and rendering it necessary to keep  windows closed.  It is also a health hazard for the many vulnerable people who live in this beautiful village.
