Buckinghamshire homebuilder helps pupils glow on the go during road safety week

Pupils at Olney Infant School with their reflective bag tags

Pupils at Olney Infant Academy in Olney have received a donation of hi-vis bag tags from David Wilson Homes to help them shine bright during Road Safety Week.

The Buckinghamshire housebuilder has given the school 210 of the bag tags for their pupils to wear whilst walking to and from school, ensuring they can be easily seen on the roads as the darker nights draw in.

Road Safety Week runs from November 16th to 22nd and inspires thousands of schools, organisations and communities to take action on road safety and promote life-saving messages during the week and beyond.

The theme for this year’s campaign is ‘No Need to Speed’, focusing on how a reduced speed of traffic leads to safe and healthy journeys.

Sarah Armitage, Head Teacher at Olney Infant Academy, said: “Here at Olney Infant Academy we are always keen to promote healthy living and life style and are very happy that many of our pupils either walk, cycle or scoot to school in the mornings.  We must always be mindful, however, of using proper road safety and are especially conscious of this during Road Safety Week.  We are grateful to David Wilson Homes for providing us with our hi-vis bag tags to assist with this and helping to keep us safe.”

The homebuilder’s development Lavendon Fields is located close to Olney Infant Academy and the donation of hi-vis bag tags is part of David Wilson Homes’ ongoing commitment to the local community.

In what’s been a challenging year for schools across the country as a result of the pandemic, the leading developer is still as committed as ever to providing support during Road Safety Week and beyond.

Jason Hearn, Sales Director at David Wilson Homes South Midlands, said: “We want to ensure the pupils in the local communities remain visible now the darker nights are here, and our donation will hopefully still encourage them to walk to school safely during Road Safety Week.

“This is a campaign we actively support each year as we endeavour to help local school children in their efforts to commute on foot, and the bag tags have proven to be both effective and practical.

“As a result of the Covid-19 crisis, it’s even more important for us to support the local schools in and around the communities we build, so we’re thrilled to have had the chance to support Olney Infant Academy during Road Safety Week.”

David Wilson Homes’ hi-vis bag tags will be particularly useful during Road Safety Week, whilst being certain to benefit the pupils in their future journeys to school throughout the winter months.

Lavendon Fields currently has a selection of four and five bedroom homes available in Olney with prices starting from £482,495.
