Buckinghamshire County Council to host town and parish conference

The national figurehead representing the country’s town and parish councils will address a special summit organised by Buckinghamshire County Council on December 12.

Ken Browse, chairman of the National Association of Local Councils (NALC), will speak at the conference for town and parish councillors, which will also feature County Council leader Martin Tett and its new chief executive Rachael Shimmin.

Held at the University Campus Aylesbury Vale in Aylesbury and called Working Together for Buckinghamshire, it will give town and parish councillors the chance to hear more about plans to modernise local government.

They will also be able to speak directly to Martin about any issues they currently have.

Martin said: “This conference will both enable the county to update town and parish councils about our plans, and crucially also allow them to give us feedback on our proposals.

“I’m particularly delighted that Ken Browse has agreed to address this conference, as I know he has some really strong views about the value of local councils and also current issues such as government proposals to cap the precepts of town and parish councils.”

The event is completely free to attend and will run from 2.30pm to 7pm, with registration from 2pm.
