By-election results Totteridge and Bowerdean

Israr Rashid is the new Buckinghamshire County Councillor for Totteridge and Bowerdean. Israr Rashid, Labour, won the divisional seat attoday’s (Thursday7 February) by-election with a majority of 310.

The seat became vacant following the sad passing of Chaudhary Ditta in November last year.

Ishar Rashid was born and educated locally and has lived in the Totteridge and Bowerdean area all of his life. IsrarRashid stood against three other candidates: Ben James Holkham (Liberal Democrat), Matt Knight (East Wycombe Independent) and Richard David Peters (Conservative)

The poll result was as follows:
Israr Rashid, Labour: 978 votes (40.8% of vote)
Matt Knight, East Wycombe Independent: 668 votes (27.8% of vote)
Ben James Holkham, Liberal Democrat: 508 votes (21.2% ofvote)
Richard David Peters, Conservative: 245 votes (10.2% of vote)
Turnout: 30.21%.

The County Council’s 49 seats are made up of 41 Conservatives, 4 Liberal Democrat, one East Wycombe Independents,two Labour andone Independents.
