Bypass opening scheduled for Monday
The reopening of Stoke Hammond Bypass has been scheduled for 6am on Monday (8 October).
Contractors expect to complete road markings and installation of reflective studs on the Wing-bound carriageway bySunday (7 October), having resurfaced the five-mile length of these lanes during the past four weeks.
Mark Shaw, Buckinghamshire County Council Deputy Leader and Transport Cabinet Member, said the £4.5 million eight-week surfacing programme had been an enormous logistical and technical engineering project – one of the county’s biggest road resurfacing schemes in recent years.
“We were aiming at a Sunday reopening, but there was a hiccup in the regular supply of surfacing material, which means we’ll be a little later with painting road markings and installing reflective studs,” said Mark. “It’s in the interests of everyone’s safety that we reopen a little later than planned, and I apologise for any inconvenience.”
Work on the bypass began on August 13 with the resurfacing of the five-mile northbound (Milton Keynes-bound) carriageway.
