Care England Backs CQC Systems Review

Care England, the largest representative body for independent providers of adult social care, has welcomed the Care Quality Commission’s (CQC) report on systems review.

Professor Martin Green OBE, Chief Executive of Care England says:

This new approach is to be welcomed particularly the recommendation for better oversight of local systems and commissioning. New regulation we hope will allow CQC to regulate not just individual organisations, but the quality of service for people across systems”.

Unfortunately in terms of market sustainability there were clearly problems in each of the areas. Care England has called for more to be done and for the CQC and commissioners to work with providers in order to maintain sustainable services. The full report, Beyond Barriers, can be seen here https://www.cqc.org.uk/news/releases/new-approaches-funding-commissioning-regulation-needed-meet-people%E2%80%99s-health-care-needs

Martin Green continues:

“Improving regulation is a huge part of the jigsaw, but will not be complete without commensurate funding to plug the shortfall in adult social care”.
