Celebrate with a street party

On 19May 2018 HRH Prince Harry will marry Meghan Markle. Royal weddings are a cause for celebration across the nation, and it might be that your street wants to host a party.

Ordinarily, residents looking to host a street party would have to pay a small fee. However, all fees have been waived for the royal wedding. If you would like to close your street in order to host a party to celebrate the wedding, you can do so for free – but you must notify Buckinghamshire County Council by the 19 April 2018 to do so.

County Councillor Mark Shaw, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Transportation said “The waived street party fees mean that this is a great chance for communities to come together in celebration of the royal wedding. I hope lots of people will take advantage of this opportunity to commemorate the big day!”

Please note that guidance on holding a street party can be found on the Government website at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/your-guide-to-organising-a-street-party/your-guide-to-organising-a-street-party and explains that street parties should be held in quiet residential roads and streets.
