Chairman raises the flag for Commonwealth Day

Buckinghamshire joined more than1,000 communities around the country to raise the flag for Commonwealth Day today (Monday March 14).

Chairman Bill Chapple OBE raised the flag in front of Old County Hall, in Aylesbury Market Square, at 10am, celebrating a daymarked by 53 countries worldwide.

Bill said Buckinghamshire wasproud to be part of a celebratory day that would be marked by a third of the world’s population.

‘Thisgives the community the opportunity to express appreciation for the Commonwealth, and the values of co-operation and understanding between our nations,’ said Bill.
