Charity launches retail recruitment drive
Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity have launched a recruitment drive to support their ambitious plans for growth over the next few years.
“We know that the demand for hospice care is going to continue to grow with as the population of Buckinghamshire increases and ages – and we are determined to be there for every patient that needs our care. To do this we need to increase our income, and our shops will play a key part in this,” says Lily Caswell, Head of Retail at the charity.
The charity has opened two new shops in the past six months, in Marlow and Beaconsfield, with a third due to open in Hazlemere very soon. A number of their shops now open seven days a week and their online operation, focusing on selling on eBay and Facebook, has also expanded. Last year they had a record-breaking year, making more money, serving more customers and handled more donations than any previous year.
“Charity retail is an amazing place to work,” says Lily. “Our shops are the face of the charity, seeing supporters and raising vital funds to support local patients and their families, every single day on high streets, retail parks, and a farm, all across Buckinghamshire and its borders. We offer the opportunity to be part of a genuinely ethical and sustainable sector of the retail industry.”
The charity is recruiting for a number of full-time and part-time retail roles to support the growth of the organisation, from Weekend Sales Assistants to Shop Managers at locations across Buckinghamshire.
Samantha Ratcliffe has worked for the charity for three years, starting as an Assistant Manager at their Haddenham shop and now manages the Online Sales operation. “I thoroughly enjoy working for Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity. It is such a friendly environment where you know the work you do is going towards a fantastic cause. Charity retail is such an exciting industry to work in. The way that people shop is changing and it’s exciting being part of that change.”
