THE STORY OF OUR FANTASTIC LIMITED EDITION ALE FOR MARCH 2016.

All the best ideas come over a pint. This one happened to be with family too – our cousin in Sheffield in fact. He loves the quality and taste of Birchall’s teas – a family company like our own, that can trace their roots back to 1872. Like us, Birchall’s source the finest ingredients to create great tasting drinks. There were so many parallels that we wanted to try them and now we serve Birchall’s teas in our brewery tap – the King’s Head in Aylesbury.

The next logical step was to brew a beer with their tea. We approached Birchall’s and Earl Grey seemed to provide the most potential as a flavour. After 4 months of trials here at Terrick we perfected our new Earl Grey IPA 3.9% vol limited edition ale for 2016. This extra pale refreshing citrus ale has spicy and floral notes and is the perfect beer for the milder spring season.

We’re delighted with the result. We can’t give away any trade secrets for the recipe (sorry) but rest assured our brewer Dave has used the best malting barley and freshest English hops both expertly blended with Birchall’s famously bright and fragrant pure origin Virunga East African Single Estate Tea from one of Rwanda’s leading estates. We hope you like it – and please no biscuit dunking.
