The Chiltern Brewery – May 2017
The new seasonal draught ale from The Chiltern Brewery for May and June is Cobblestones Summer Ale 3.5% vol. A rich golden, but light, refreshing and fruity beer with a hint of bitterness and subtle tastes of blackcurrant, it is a super summer’s drink. The name is inspired by the beautiful cobblestones in the ancient courtyard of their historic brewery tap in Market Square Aylesbury, owned by the National Trust, The King’s Head, which is well worth a look – and a pint? – if you are passing.
On 6th January last year the Brewery celebrated its 2000th gyle – or brew – and to mark this historic occasion they have produced a unique limited edition 12 month bottle-conditioned bottled IPA ‘MM’. It’s a real treat – a true classic IPA, light gold in colour with a fruity aroma and set off by a dry malt middle and a long hop finish for a 6.4% vol strength sparkling ale in a champagne bottle. The bottles have matured for 12 months to allow the flavour to mellow and Dave the Brewer even suggests we drink it out of champagne glasses for that extra special touch of class!
