Chiltern Society Warriors go beyond the call of duty
Chiltern Society employees Vicky Blane and Gavin Johnson are going that extra mile for their bosses – over six, in fact, across some of the muddiest and most exhausting obstacles in the Chiltern Warrior Extreme Obstacle Run.
Vicky, the Society’s Head of Marketing, and Gavin, its Head of Conservation, are aiming to complete the challenging 10K course at the Chiltern Open Air Museum next month and in doing so raise funds for the charity whose 7,000 members help to conserve, protect and care for the Chiltern Hills.
The annual event is being held on Sunday 13 March at the Chiltern Open Air Museum and attracts scores of competitors. The course includes stiff climbs, deep ditches and tricky rope obstacles laid out in and around the museum’s ancient and restored buildlings at the Chalfont St Peter site.
Said Vicky: “The public have in the past been very supportive of the Society’s ongoing mission to conserve and care for the Chilterns. Our volunteers are always so dedicated to the cause, so this time we thought we would go above and beyond our call of duty by competing in this gruelling race. We are going to need all the encouragment we can get though, so please do sponsor us. Every penny raised will help us to care for your local countryside!”
