Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge – Sunday 8 September 2019
Dig out your walking boots and strap on your Fitbit – the ever-popular Rennie Grove Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge once again takes to the stunning Bucks countryside in September.
Now in its second decade, the annual event is a unique opportunity to clock up your steps, soak up miles of rolling landscape in the company of others and raise vital funds for Rennie Grove Hospice Care at the same time.
The local charity provides nursing and support services for people in Herts and Bucks with cancer or other life-limiting conditions, and supports their families too. Many hundreds of participants have taken part over the years in memory of loved ones, while many others simply relish the opportunity to take to the hills in a good cause.
Last year, more than 600 walkers in distinctive Rennie Grove T-shirts enjoyed a glorious sun-soaked day walking through woodland, along farm tracks and over the Chilterns’ breezy hilltops – stopping at the 3 Peaks of Whiteleaf Cross, Coombe Hill and the finishing post at Ivinghoe Beacon along the way.
Walkers of all abilities are welcome, including dogs (on leads). You can take on a 7, 11 or 20-mile challenge, with Arriva once again generously providing buses and volunteer drivers for free transport between drop-off points throughout the day.
“We are grateful for all the walkers who sign up each time for the Rennie Grove Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge and put so much effort and energy into raising funds,” said Rennie Grove Director of Fundraising Tracey Hancock. “The money they raise through donations and sponsorship enables us to continue to provide vital, dedicated nursing and support services for thousands of local patients and their families each year.
“Anyone who has ever taken part will know what a wonderful day it is. It’s a lovely route, with cheerful volunteers marshalling with words of encouragement and water supplies. Everyone is rewarded with a medal when they finish – even the four-legged participants.”
You can sign up now for this year’s Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge, which takes place on Sunday 8 September. Visit the Rennie Grove website at renniegrove.org/events for more information and to register.
