Clare Pasquale – local poet

Local poet Clare Pasquale has penned a poem about Coronavirus.

Clare says: “I’ve lived in the area all my life, growing up in Cheddington and now live in Ivinghoe Aston.  Several years ago, I started to write short verses in birthday cards for friends and family.  They are usually humorous and people seem to like them.”

February 2020

Our lives were ticking along

Then came Corona virus

Boom, our freedom was gone

You couldn’t see your family

Couldn’t go out with mates

Conversations were held

Standing at garden gates

I couldn’t let you into my garden

I could talk to you at my door

You couldn’t hand me a parcel

It had to be left on the floor

The shops ran out of ingredients

As we all began to bake

Some people produced

Their first attempt at a cake

There were limits on groceries

Pasta, eggs and rice

The supermarkets ran out

Not once, not twice but thrice

Here we are one year on

We can meet family and friends

We want an end to restrictions

On this our happiness depends
