Get a clear view of wildlife at College Lake

Come to College Lake, one of the best places near Tring to see winter wildlife, on Saturday 7 December and find out how you can get the best views using the latest Opticron binoculars and telescopes.

Bring the family to enjoy a festive fireside day making seasonal decorations, and get closer to wildlife with a gentle walk around the lake and the nature reserve to see unusual wildfowl and elegant raptors.

Sarah Onacko, from Luton-based binocular and telescope makers Opticron will be at College Lake visitor centre, Upper Icknield Way, Bulbourne, near Tring between 10am and 3pm to demonstrate different models. Some will be available at discounted prices on that day only, and a percentage of all sales will be donated to the Berks, Bucks & Oxon Wildlife Trust.

Get a clear view of wildlife on and around the lake on the nature reserve when you go on a guided walk with the reserve warden Owain Hegarty and his team. The walk is from 10.30am to 12.30pm. Call 01442 826774 to book your place.

The Festive Fireside seasonal decoration session is running throughout the day between 11am and 3pm. You can bring and share your own materials, or spend a happy half hour collecting pine cones, leaves and branches from the woodland to make your wreaths and other decorations.

Buy the perfect Christmas gifts for your wildlife-loving family and friends in the shop in the visitor centre. Bird boxes, bird feeders and bird food, squirrel-proof nuttery feeder, books about wildlife and seasonal cards are all available.
