Colombian Coffee Porter from The Chiltern Brewery
A new month and a new collaboration! Combining forces with Chartley Coffee, traditional bespoke roasters of gourmet coffees, The Chiltern Brewery have created a new limited edition draught ale for April, Colombian Coffee Porter 4.1% vol.
“We love this beer” says Head Brewer Tom Jenkinson. “It promises all the mouth-watering aroma of smooth roasted coffee beans and delivers a great balance of flavour, with a Café Crème finish.”
“I think Chartley selected the perfect coffee bean for us” adds joint director and brother George. “We like to try new challenges and we think this is something rather special. We hope you enjoy it.”
The bean is ‘Yellow Bourbon’, grown on a 90 year old award-winning family farm ‘Café Granja La Esperanza’ high up in the Colombian mountains and gently roasted specially for the Brewery in small batches.
The Chiltern Brewery in Terrick near Wendover, Buckinghamshire, have been at the forefront of the revival of classic English ale styles for 36 years and their award-winning beers are brewed with the finest English malt and hops – naturally.
Porter is a dark style of ale originally brewed in London using dark malts. The name is thought to come from its popularity with the London market porters.
Chartley Coffee, like The Chiltern Brewery, believe in combining traditional production methods with modern techniques. They use 3 vintage solid drum roasters and their coffees are ‘profile roasted’ by hand. They are also a second generation family business and have been roasting gourmet coffees since 1979.
