Costa Team tours the Chilterns

On the day the Tour de France started, Saturday 29 June, Paul Messenger, a Costa Coffee cup and his team began a cycle ride covering a 100 mile route over 2 days. It was a beautiful weekend for fundraising which by the end of Sunday provided some very sore muscles and a very red team. The reason for the mammoth cycle was to fundraise for the Costa Foundation, a charity that gives back to coffee growing communities by building schools and providing an education for both children & adults. It was set up in 2006 and so far has built 32 schools in 8 countries and given 18,500 children access to education. By the end of the financial year, the Costa Foundation will have extended 11 schools with additional classrooms, built 14 libraries with more than 12,000 books, built 42 schools with 235 classrooms, provided jobs for 300 teachers & given over 26,000 children the access to education.

We raised £4619 last year for which we were named Fund Raising Franchise of the year within Costa. Our target this year is £11,000, this amount will build and fully furnish a classroom.
