Council says no to Slough expansion
Along with councils all over the country, Chiltern and South Bucks (CSB) District Councils jointly developed a local plan to meet housing and business use needs to take the area up to 2036.
The final part of the consultation process involved the Secretary of State appointing independent Planning Inspectors who have been considering the CSB Local Plan. We have now received the initial findings of the Inspectors – see the letter from the Planning Inspector here: https://www.chiltern.gov.uk/examination and https://www.southbucks.gov.uk/examination

Cllr Warren Whyte , Buckinghamshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Planning and Enforcement said: “The Council has already been facing the prospect of building in some green belt areas to ensure we meet the housing needs of Buckinghamshire residents. To suggest that the plan should also have accommodated up to an additional 10,000 houses for Slough is ridiculous. I hope when we present out arguments to the inspectors that they are persuaded to change their minds.”
