County Council appoints Tolis Vouyioukas as new Executive Director for Children’s Services
BuckinghamshireCounty Council has appointedTolis Vouyioukas to its senior management team asExecutive Director for Children’s Services.
Tolis is currently Strategic Director of People at the London Borough of Sutton where he has responsibility forchildren’s services, adult social care, public health, leisure, arts and heritage.
A qualified social worker with a background in psychology, Tolis started his career in the UK at Essex County Council in the early 1990s, primarily working in child protection. Subsequently, he was appointed toone of the first jointly funded posts in the country across education and children’s social care.
Mike Appleyard, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills said”I am delighted thatTolis is joining Buckinghamshire. Theexperience,wealth of knowledge and leadership skillshebrings willhelp uscontinue to deliverthe best possible education services for ourchildren and young people.”
Warren Whyte, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services said, “In my portfolio, keeping children safe and giving them the best opportunities in life is our key goal. I am looking forward to working with Tolis to successfully deliver the improvement programme that we have in place.”
Tolis Vouyioukas said he was looking forward to his move to Buckinghamshire. “I’m passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of the children and families the Council serves. Keeping children and young people safe and making sure that they get the best education possible is my top priority.
He added, “Buckinghamshire has a good reputation, but there’s more still to do. I look forward to working with my new team at the Council, its partners and the children and young people across the county to ensure this agenda is delivered.”
Tolis willjoin Buckinghamshire on2 October. Interim Children’s Services Director, Gladys Rhodes White will remain in post until then.
