County Council congratulates GCSE students in Buckinghamshire

The waiting is finally over for thousands of young people across Buckinghamshire today (22 August), as they find out their GCSE results.

As they prepare to take their next steps, whether in further education or training, Anita Cranmer, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, is sending her best wishes to all students on their hard work.

Anita said: “I would like to congratulate all our GCSE students on their results today and wish everyone the very best of luck. A huge amount of hard work goes into preparing for these exams and, as ever, our students are a real credit to their schools and to the whole county. I hope their efforts are rewarded and they get the grades they aimed for. A big thank you to all our teachers, governors and school staff too, who have worked tirelessly to support students.

“Once you’ve got your results, whether they are better or worse than you expected, it can be difficult to decide what to do next, but it’s not too late to re-think your plans to make the most of the many opportunities available right across Buckinghamshire. Do make sure you look at all the options so that you can make an informed decision about your next steps.”

Options for students for further education or training include:

• full-time education such as sixth form or college
• an apprenticeship or traineeship
• part-time education or training if they are employed, self-employed or volunteering for more than 20 hours a week
