Full list of candidates for County Council elections published

A total of 219 candidates are to stand in this year’s Buckinghamshire County Council elections taking place on Thursday, May 4th.

Across the County there are 49 seats (divisions)being contested, 17 inAylesbury Vale, 16inWycombe, 9 inChiltern and 7 in South Bucks.

Those finally elected will not only represent their local communities, but also makedecisions about millions of pounds of public services right across Buckinghamshire, includingsupport for vulnerable children, adults and older people, education, roads and transport, libraries andwaste disposal.

County Returning Officer, Gill Quinton said that county councillors play a hugely valuable role inlistening to residents, speakingup for them in debates and decision-making and representing their views.

“It’s a massively important role and without local people stepping forward, we could not run the County Council. It’s now up toresidentsto get involved and cast theirvotes. Every vote is important as it shows local people care about democracy and who they want to represent them.

“I wish all candidates the very best of luck,” Gill added.

Polling stations will be open from 7.00am to 10.00pm on polling day itself. Voteswill be countedand results declared on Friday May 5th.
