Couple from Hong Kong join recent retirement trend and upsize to Milton Keynes development
A retired couple from Hong Kong have recently joined Barratt Homes’ thriving community, Fairfields in Milton Keynes.
David Ho (68) and Yuen Ling (65) chose the Vespasian Road development to upsize and purchase the dream home for their retirement.
The couple join a new trend for retirees who are now looking to upsize, rather than previously downsizing for a lower maintenance life. According to CountryLiving, one of the reasons for upsizing in retirement is to make sure you have room for family, in particular grandchildren, to stay whenever they need.
However, CountryLiving highlights that one of the concerns with upsizing in retirement would be the cost of fuelling a larger home. The solution provided is to upsize to a new build home, which is more energy efficient and is still low maintenance.
After visiting the development, David and Yuen decided to purchase a detached four bedroom Hesketh style of home at Fairfields after deciding to upsize from their previous property in Bradwell Common, Milton Keynes.
David Ho, said: “I’ve always liked new build homes, they are easier to maintain and as the fittings in the home are also brand new, a big draw to the property is that they are all covered by the National House Building Council (NHBC).
“I would definitely recommend Barratt Homes to family and friends, their wholehearted working attitude to their customers is a huge bonus.”
Alison Raine, Sales Director at Barratt Homes Northampton, said: “We’re delighted to welcome David and Yuen to the development and we are pleased to hear they have now settled into their new home and are experiencing the benefits of a new build home of having a large space for the whole family whilst not having to worry about DIY and high energy bills.
“As we pride ourselves on delivering excellent customer service, it’s great to know how accommodating the sales team have been. We’re looking forward to seeing how the community grows at this exciting development.”
With a range of one, two and four bedroom homes currently available starting from £215,000, Fairfields has already established itself as a strong community thanks to the perfect blend between country living while also boasting great commuter links.
The development will have amenities that will be able to suit the lifestyles of young couples, growing families and commuters alike. Fairfields has a primary school on site and is local to the market town of Stony Stratford.
