Development at Chilterns Dog Rescue Society

Chilterns Dog Rescue Society chairman David Lewis has, on 30 October 2014, issued the statement below regarding the development work in progress at the centre near St Leonards.

“Last year we were granted the planning permission we had worked so hard to achieve in order to redevelop the rescue centre. The next step was to put together a full specification of all the work required and send this out to various building companies with the capacity and experience to take on a project of this nature.

“A number of tenders were received and we then set about the process of having detailed discussion with a short list of our preferred contractors.

“We are delighted to announce that a contract has now been signed with Priory Gate Ltd. They are based in Dunstable and have worked on a number of similar sized projects including work at Whipsnade Zoo.

“Work commenced in earnest on Monday 20th October and construction will take approximately nine months to complete, meaning that at the end of next summer we will have the purpose built facilities we have wanted for so long.

“We would like to express our sincere thanks to everyone who has enabled us to achieve this milestone; it is an unprecedented time in the history of the Society and means we will be able to do even more for dogs in need of our help”.
