Don’t miss Buckinghamshire Local Enterprise Partnership’s AGM

Join the Buckinghamshire Local Enterprise Partnership (Bucks LEP) team at their Annual General Meeting on the 15th November at the newly opened Building 4000 situated within the Westcott Enterprise Zone, to hear all about their achievements over the past year and ambitious plans for the future.

As well as celebrating the achievements of the LEP over the past 12 months, the AGM will mark the launch of the Bucks LEP funded new Drone Test and Development Centre at Westcott Enterprise Zone. The new Centre will help to shape and transform private and commercial aviation over the next decade and help facilitate growth in the Buckinghamshire economy and further establish the county as a global centre of excellence in drone and space technology.

In addition, the event will highlight the major growth and development in many of our key projects and schemes, including activity around our three Enterprise Zones, which have delivered 55% of all new commercial and industrial employment space in Buckinghamshire since their inception. In doing so they have transformed the business environment at Silverstone and Westcott and have already started to bring new investment into the Aylesbury Woodlands site.

Andrew M. Smith, Chair of Buckinghamshire Local Enterprise Partnership, said: “We warmly welcome everyone to our Annual General Meeting to hear more about our achievements over the past 12 months and our exciting future plans. In particular, to reflect on the delivery of projects and programmes which are helping to drive the Buckinghamshire economy to further increase innovation, support international trade and improve connectivity to help all businesses deliver their full economic potential.”

The event will provide a great opportunity to learn more about how Bucks LEP secured investment is helping support economic growth across Buckinghamshire and to learn how business can work more closely with Bucks LEP and its Skills, Growth Hub, Funding and Enterprise Zone teams.

One of the many key achievements this year is the Getting Building Fund programme with the 10 projects Bucks LEP are delivering across the county. These projects have been selected to support jobs, skills and infrastructure in the key sectors of upstream space, creative and digital, advanced engineering and manufacturing and medical technology and health. Significantly, the Getting Building Fund leveraged over £14.5m of private match funding, which resulted in a total capital investment of £22.5m.

A host of projects came to fruition across Buckinghamshire over the past 12 months. Local Growth Fund and Getting Building Fund investments have helped support the development of the Silverstone Sports Engineering Hub; the Satellite Applications Catapult’s In-Orbit Services and Manufacturing facility at Westcott; the University of Buckingham’s Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Innovation; and the delivery of new broadband connections for many rural businesses.

Andrew added: “Over the past year we have continued to build strong foundations to help our business community grow and worked tirelessly with stakeholders, political, education, business and community leaders to make our county a highly attractive place for business, which is why we are one of the top performing areas in the country.”

The Annual General Meeting takes place on Tuesday 15th November, between 2.00pm – 3.30pm at Building 4000, Westcott Venture Park, Westcott, Bucks, HP18 OPH.
