EKFB and HS2 construction update, June 2022

Conveyor over A413 London Road and Small Dean Lane

HS2 in Wendover
The conveyor from our Small Dean Viaduct Launch Compound to Small Dean Lane is continuing in its construction. The bridge section over the Chiltern Rail line and Small Dean Lane has been completed and the next phase we are preparing for is the installation of the bridge over the A413 London Road. In mid-May and June we have planned overnight closures of London Road to construct protection barriers for the piers of the bridge and to install the bridge itself.

Following these works, we will be working to install power to the conveyor which will require some short duration traffic management on the A413 and Rocky Lane as we connect up the utilities. We will then start the testing and commissioning phase and we hope to have the conveyor in operation from July.

Further into Wendover, to enable the construction of The Green Tunnel and our internal haul road, we need to demolish six properties on Ellesborough Road at the end of May. During the demolition, Ellesborough Road will need to be closed to traffic for 3 days but will remain open with a lane closure overnight during this period. Pedestrians and residents will have access at all times.
