The conveyor structure in assembly mode

The conveyor from our Small Dean Viaduct Launch Compound to Small Dean Lane is approaching completion, with the finishing touches being put in place throughout October. The bridge sections over the A413 London Road, the Chiltern Rail line and Small Dean Lane were completed earlier this year and the last phases we are preparing for are the power installation and commissioning. In early October we started the transfer of stockpiles that have been stored in various locations through the area to our Small Dean Viaduct Compound ready to feed into the conveyor.

Once operational we will be transferring approximately 45,000m3 of excavated material each month. The topsoil and subsoil materials being transported are for reuse in other areas of the project, either for landscaping or for the construction of the Wendover Green Tunnel, bridge and viaduct structures.

The conveyor has been acoustically clad to reduce any noise impact however it will only be operational during site working hours and will not be operational overnight.  As the system is fully enclosed it has eliminated any risk of material falling on vehicles passing underneath and prevents any dust issues occurring.  We expect the system to be in place until late 2024.
